About the workshop
This workshop aims to boost Chinese officials' skills and leadership in planning and conducting evaluations to support the evidence base for informed decision-making. It also seeks to assist in the building of an evaluation culture among participants and create a network of professionals for sharing best practices and mutual support.
The focus will be on applying evaluation standards, methodologies, and management techniques to real-world policy challenges, with a comparative look at evaluation practices in China and other countries to integrate international norms. Lectures will provide theoretical knowledge, case studies will highlight successful evaluations, and group discussions will allow participants to reflect on their experiences and work on problem-solving.
The interactive workshop will include:
- Lectures on evaluation theory, norms, and standards.
- Case studies of UNICEF evaluations in health and education and their impact on Chinese public policy.
- Small group discussions on evaluation practices in performance budgeting and international aid projects in China.
Targeted Audiences
- Chinese government officials involved in policymaking and evaluating domestic and international aid projects including senior policymakers, mid-level managers, and technical staff responsible for planning, implementing, and managing evaluations.
