Sophie Kang’oma is a demographer with over 22 years of service experience in three key Government Ministries and Departments in Malawi. She launched her career as a Statistician, working for the National Statistical Office. Thereafter, Sophie spent 10 years with the National Registration Bureau, initially as the Deputy Director and then as the Director. Sophies current position is as the Director of Malawi’s Monitoring and Evaluation Division in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development.
Sophie has vast experience in designing and managing operational processes of various data collection methodologies i.e. Surveys, censuses, civil registration, and registration for national IDs. Her skillset includes data analysis, data management, monitoring and evaluation of government development policies and programmes, and developing strategies and agendas.
