<span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Dr. Indran Naidoo is the Director of the Independent Evaluation Office (<a href="https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fweb.un…; style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="text-underline:none">IEO</span></span></a>) of the United Nations Development Programme (<a href="https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.un…; style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="text-underline:none">UNDP</span></span></a>) since January 2012. This is the largest evaluation office in the United Nations system globally. He also serves as a Vice Chair of the United Nations Evaluation Group (<a href="https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.un…; style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="text-underline:none">UNEG</span></span></a>), a professional network for evaluators. In the post he has led fundamental reforms; key being the full professionalization and expansion of the office, entrenching new policies and independence, expanding evaluation coverage and expanding the national Evaluation capacity conference to becoming the largest evaluation event globally, by government participation. The IEO is a key player globally in the area of evaluation, its role in development and governance, and has developed one of the largest repositories of independent country, corporate and thematic evaluations in the UN system.</span></span>
<span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Indran has been in leadership and managerial positions in evaluation since 1995, drawing on a background in education and development studies. He started South Africa`s first M&E Directorate in the democratic era, as the country first Director for M&E of Land Affairs, responsible for evaluating the land reform program. He continued to the independent constitutional oversight body in 2000 as Chief Director, the Public Service Commission (PSC), occupying positions as Deputy Director General for both Leadership and Management Practices and Monitoring and Evaluation, conducting country-wide oversight functions. During this period he contributed to oversight systems design, methodological development for oversight tools such as inspections, departmental audits, policy reviews, citizen engagements and reviews and quality reviews of leadership. He was also a founding member of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA), co-leading 3 biennial conferences, and co-chair of the 3<sup>rd</sup> African Evaluation Association Conference in 2004. He was appointed as instructor for the International program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) from 2009 where he co-taught modules on evaluating governance and provided keynote addresses at most global evaluation events.</span></span>
<span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Indran holds the following qualifications: B. Paed (Arts); B.A.(Hons)(Geography): University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, B. Education (University of South Africa); Masters of Arts (Geography)(West Virginia University, USA); PhD (University of Witwatersrand, SA). He also holds certificates in Executive Leadership from Harvard and Wits Business Schools, USA and South Africa, and Oxford University (UK). He was the recipient of several academic distinctions, leadership awards and acknowledgements, such as being selected as an Abe Bailey Fellow in 1984 and receiving an award as Outstanding Alumnus (West Virginia University, USA) in 2018. He published in several accredited journals and books, and also co-edited key publications. His key notes and lectures have been shared globally. </span></span>
