Matodzi has extensive experience as a researcher and evaluator in government/public administration in South Africa. She is a research associate at the Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR-AA) working to support African governments in establishing and strengthening evaluation systems. From 2007-2013 she worked in the South African government, in Human Settlements and later on at Planning Monitoring and Evaluation. She was part of the team that established the National Evaluation System in South Africa, working with Departments of Social Development and Human Settlements. She was also part of the team that delivered a DPME/University of Cape Town course for the top three levels of the Public Service on Evidence Based Policy Making and Implementation and lectured in MPHIL at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town. Matodzi has a keen interest in M&E and evidence use in the violence prevention sector, focusing on what works to prevent violence against women and children as well as in Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting. Since 2016 she has been involved in the Dialogue Forum to promote collaboration between government, academia and civil society in the generation of evidence of what works to prevent violence against children. She is also the chairperson of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association, a voluntary association of M&E practitioners in South Africa.
