Hana has a PhD in Health and Social Sciences and an MA in Applied Social Research with Specialism in Health from the University of Warwick, UK. She is a gender expert, with experience working in sustainable human development and humanitarian relief projects in the MENA region, and wider. Hana is currently working as a gender and social inclusion advisor for the German Development Agency’s (GIZ) 'Improving Living Conditions in Disadvantaged Areas of Amman' Project. Between 2002 and 2008, Hana worked at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) with a team to expand its economic security and ICT programme to include partnerships of more than 40 local, regional and international stakeholders, and increase the programme’s in-kind and cash contribution to 15 million US Dollars by 2007. Hana recently completed a course on ‘UN Evaluations’ and ‘Gender Responsive Evaluations’ at the University of Bern, Switzerland, as well as a course on ‘Qualitative Impact Protocol’ offered by the Bath Social and Development Research (BSDR). Hana also completed an ‘Advanced Monitoring and Evaluation’ Course from INTRAC (UK) in 2017, a ‘Core Professional Training on Humanitarian Law and Policy’ Course from the Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP) in Geneva in 2014, as well as a ‘Sphere Training of Trainers’ Course from RedRUK in 2013. Hana has experience in leading international teams, as a gender advisor for humanitarian related projects and in monitoring and evaluation. She is fluent in English and Arabic.
