Dr Madete holds a PhD in Economics from Fordham University in New York, USA (2010); a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam (2000) and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Wales, in Aberystwyth, UK (1994). Currently, she is a Principal Economist in the Policy Analysis Department of the Ministry of Finance and Planning where she oversees national planning functions including oversight of mainstreaming and implementation of global and regional agreements Tanzania is party to, e.g. the SDGs. Prior to that she was a Principal Policy Analyst for President’s Office-Planning Commission she performed, supervised and coordinated a number of assignments and duties related to macroeconomic development and related policies as well as long, short and medium term national development planning, including being the Commission’s focal person for Agenda 2030 (SDGs) issues. Dr Madete had also worked for the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF), an economic and social policy think-tank where she participated, in various capacities, in a number of research/studies geared to inform economic policy and prior to that she worked for Norconsult, a Norwegian Consulting Firm based in Tanzania where she participated in various socio-economic surveys of project areas, using both traditional methods and modern participatory based methods. Dr. Madete has produced one joint publication, about ten papers and several presentations that have been delivered at various conferences and one newspaper article.
