Towfiqul Islam Khan is an Economist and currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Bangladesh. He has undertaken researches and published in a number of areas including millennium development goals (MDGs), sustainable development goals (SDGs), data revolution and economic development. Khan is currently leading the research portfolio of Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, the largest network of civil society organisations, working in the area of delivering SDGs in Bangladesh. He is also a member of the “SDG Working Team”, set up by the Prime Minister’s Office and “SDG Sub-Committee” of NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government of Bangladesh. He was part of the expert group which reviewed “SDGs Financing Strategy: Bangladesh Perspectives” prepared by the Planning Commission of Bangladesh. Khan was also member of a number of technical committees set up by the Bangladesh government agencies including Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), External Relations Division and Ministry of Commerce. He is also a member of Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data. As a professional at the CPD, Khan has undertaken researches for several reputed organizations including Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI), Norway; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), Germany; Financial Transparency Coalition (FTC), USA; Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), Germany, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada; Overseas Development Institute (ODI), United Kingdom; Save the Children, UK; and, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He received Australian Leadership Award (ALA) in 2008 to carry out his postgraduation academic degree at University of Melbourne, Australia.
